Dear Students,

As a result of technical problems with our system maintenance, there may be students whose enrolment may have been processed in error. Such students may have been able to enrol through the online portal for this semester even though they may not have met the academic requirements to continue with their study.

We refer students to Clause 4.12 in the Student Progression, Exclusion and Graduation Policy and Procedures for information regarding progression, which states:

4.12  A student may be excluded from a course of study if they:

  • Exceed the maximum period of candidature;
  • Fail more than 50% of the course in two consecutive semesters with all assessments attempted and after the intervention strategy has been utilised;
  • Fail more than 50% of the course in a semester without attending any classes and/or attempting any assessments;
  • Fail a core subject twice; or
  • Are in breach of any other rule of policy with provision for exclusion.

It is urgent that you check whether you are affected by any of these provisions.

If you are a student who has not met the Institute’s academic requirements and may be affected by Clause 4.12 of the Student Progression, Exclusion and Graduation Policy and Procedures, you are required to attend an interview with Student Services to explain your circumstances and to seek approval from the Dean or  his delegate to continue your studies in the Institute. It is important to understand that the Dean or the delegate’s approval will depend on your particular circumstances, and may be denied if you are unable to provide valid reasons for your circumstances.

If you are not sure whether you are affected by this rule, it is urgent that you contact Student Services for a clarification of your situation as soon as possible.

If Clause 4.12 affects you, and you do not attend an interview with Student Services by Friday 28th July 2017, you will be automatically excluded from the Institute without further notice.

We are contacting you through your email account that has been provided as the official communication account for you. We assume that you will read this very important email and take action by Friday 28th July 2017.

Regards,

Academic Office
