Welcome to Week 8

This week's topic is Memory Techniques
Did you know that within two days of learning new information, we forget 60% of it?

Strategy 1: Use your other senses Each sense is processed in a different part of your brain. The more parts of the brain we bring into our study, the more likely we are to remember.
Strategy 2: Categorising ideas Our minds are wired to remember relevant information. We can make content relevant by linking it to what we already know.
Strategy 3: Make a story Our brains are wired to remember stories, so if we want to remember course content, it's helpful to make it into a story. There are many more mnemonic tools. Check them out here! Strategy 4: Teach someone If we really understand a topic, we can break it down into simple categories that we can explain to others and answer any questions our students might ask.
Strategy 5: Timing Timing is essential when memorising. Our brains focus in 20-minute chunks and tend to disengage after this time.
Now, for the final step, have you memorised the right content? Test yourself with past papers, quizzes throughout the term, and your own study sets (made on Quizlet!).
