Welcome to Week 3

This week’s topic: BuildingStudy Support Network

❓ Why building a study support network is important

  • It offers emotional, social, and practical assistance.
  • It is a network to rely on during stressful time.
  • It assists you with practical tasks, like securing accommodation or understanding the Australian education system.

🫶 How you can build a study support network

  • Contact your classmates, roommates, or professors, even if you’re feeling shy or uncertain.
  • Connect with other international students. Join the study buddy program and if you’re in Sydney, come along to the Coffee and Conversation Club
  • Form friendships across generations. Reach out to the full-time professional in your class, or start a conversation with an undergraduate student.
  • Take advantage of university services. For more information, send an email to learning@imc.edu.au for all campuses or to learning.wa@imc.edu.au specifically for Perth campus.
  • Engage with your local community. Consider volunteering at a local charity or joining a sports team

🤝 Tips for maintaining your support network

  • Be transparent and sincere with your support network.
  • Stay connected with your friends and family back home and in Australia.
  • Establish boundaries: avoid overcommitting and make self-care a priority and ensure you set aside time to rest and rejuvenate.
